The tripod punks from Stagsden, England are at it again – and are launching the Legends series! At the heart of the cult manufacturer’s Legends tripods is a finely adjustable levelling base, which is particularly useful for videography and landscape photography. This allows you to precisely compensate for any unevenness, even on rough terrain. The levelling base is milled entirely from carbon fibre and can be adjusted with precision. A D-ring on the underside serves to adjust the friction resistance and also acts as a weight holder. Equally impressive is the flexibility and adaptability of these tripods. All legs are detachable and can be used as a monopod or camera boom. If you screw the separately available foot pieces onto the top section instead of the standard legs, you’ll have a fully-fledged table tripod in no time. Alternatively, the top section can also be used as a spider mount for the monopod.
AirHed Cine – Precision video head for smooth camera pans
The AirHed Cine is the first tripod head from 3LT designed specifically for video applications. It is made entirely from magnesium alloy, naturally with the usual 3LT precision. This is noticeable when tilting the head: the smooth-running tilt mechanism enables precise, jerk-free movements. Thanks to finely balanced resistance during rotation and tilting, you have equally intuitive control over movement to achieve natural-looking camera pans. A practical aid here is the included control arm, which can be screwed onto either side of the head, depending on which hand you prefer to use. The range covered when tilting is 165 degrees, 90 degrees downwards and 75 degrees upwards. An Arca-compatible quick-release plate is also included – making the video head an attractive solution for wildlife photography! The robustly built head can handle a 10 kg payload, suitable for long and heavy lens focal lengths.
Video tripods are becoming travel-friendly!
The Jay from 3LT packs the capabilities of a premium-class video tripod into an exceptionally handy package. Until now, video tripods of this quality have usually been rather unwieldy. The Jay is the first carry-on-suitable version of its kind. With a packed size of just 40.5 cm and a maximum working height of 1.11 m (without the ball head), it can practically be taken on any trip. The minimum height of just 10 cm, which is ideal for low-angle shots, is also extremely practical for macro work or exciting, unusual perspectives. With the included Airhed Cine ball head, the packed size increases to 50 cm and the working height to a maximum of 1.21 m and a minimum of 19.6 cm. The whole set also comes in a sturdy and practical carry bag with a shoulder strap.
New locks for faster and more convenient adjustment of the tripod legs
Another new feature is the redesigned Rapid-Latch locking system. The magnesium alloy locking levers have been specially optimised to make the stepless adjustment of the leg angles even smoother. Even with limited mobility, for example when wearing gloves, the optimal angle can be easily adjusted. 3LT has also redesigned the adjustment clamps on the leg segments. The O-Pad grip surfaces have become even more grippy and user-friendly. The overall construction, made from 8-layer carbon and high-quality magnesium alloy, is designed for a comfortable feel combined with maximum stability.
Interchangeable tripod feet for any surface
The 3LT Legends Jay is equipped with specially shaped rubber feet to ensure a non-slip stance even on smooth surfaces. For maximum stability on any surface, the tripod feet can be unscrewed and replaced with 4 different tripod feet available as accessories. All tripod legs feature a 3/8-inch internal thread with a 1/4-inch internal thread adapter, allowing other accessories to be mounted.
Versatile: tripod, mini-tripod or monopod
A professional video tripod as a table tripod or spider stand? It’s possible! To make this conversion possible, the 3LT design team has made not just one, but all three legs removable. This allows separately available spikes – i.e. mini legs – to be screwed into the top section. This feature opens up a wide range of new applications in macro photography or tabletop photography. When the unscrewed legs are combined to form a monopod, the upper section takes on the function of a spider stand.
