FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between Trinovid, Ultravid and Noctivid?

The three series represent different performance levels at Leica. Trinovid HD is the entry point to the premium class: robust, suitable for everyday use and attractively priced, ideal for beginners or as a second pair of binoculars. Ultravid HD-Plus uses state-of-the-art lenses with high transmission and AquaDura® coating, which offers clear advantages particularly at dawn and dusk or in poor weather. Finally, Noctivid is the benchmark class. Here, Leica focuses on maximum edge sharpness, the highest colour fidelity and modern light management, perfect for ambitious birdwatchers and nature observers who do not want to compromise.

2. What are the benefits of AquaDura®?

AquaDura® is a special coating that makes the outer lenses resistant to water, dirt and grease. Raindrops roll off immediately, and dust and fingerprints can be easily removed. This means less cleaning and a clear view at all times, even in bad weather or during intensive outdoor use.

3. Which eyepiece is recommended for Leica spotting scopes?

The Vario 25–50× WW ASPH. eyepiece is recommended as standard. It offers an exceptionally wide field of view, maintains high contrast throughout the entire zoom range and is sharp right to the edge. Those seeking greater flexibility in magnification can opt for the 20–60× eyepiece. This allows even the finest details to be seen at great distances, for example when digiscoping or observing shy animals.

4. Are Leica optics waterproof?

Yes, all Leica binoculars and spotting scopes are built for use in adverse conditions. They feature pressure-waterproof magnesium housings and are nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging. Depending on the model, they are waterproof to depths of several metres, making them ideal for outdoor or hunting use in rain, fog or high humidity.
