3 Legged Thing Legends Mike Premium tripod with levelling base incl. monopod

With the Legends series, the iconic British manufacturer 3 Legged Thing is venturing into videography for the first time. At the heart of the Legends tripods is a finely adjustable levelling base, which is particularly useful for film work. However, this feature is also highly useful in landscape photography for precisely levelling out any unevenness on rough terrain. The levelling base is milled entirely from carbon fibre and is precisely adjustable. A D-ring on the underside of the levelling plate serves to adjust the friction resistance and also acts as a weight holder. Equally impressive is the flexibility and adaptability of these tripods. All legs are detachable and can be used as a monopod or camera boom. If you screw the separately available foot pieces onto the top section instead of the standard legs, you’ll have a fully-fledged table tripod in no time. Alternatively, the top section can also be used as the base of the monopod.

Sturdy and stable tripod

The fewer leg sections, the more stable and secure the tripod. The Mike also follows this rule of thumb: it features three leg sections made from 8-layer carbon fibre. Combined with the redesigned leg locks, the tripod is extremely durable and stable. The maximum height of 1.47 m contrasts with a minimum height of just 13.5 cm, ideal for shots close to the ground, macro work or exciting, unusual perspectives. Such a versatile working height is definitely a mark of quality. When folded, the Mike is still 67 cm long, making it perfectly portable. The tripod also comes in a sturdy and practical carry bag with a shoulder strap.

New locks for faster and more convenient securing of the tripod legs

Another new feature is the redesigned Rapid-Latch locking system. The magnesium alloy locking ratchets have been specially optimised to make the stepless adjustment of the leg angles even smoother. Even with limited mobility, for example when wearing gloves, the optimal angle can be easily set. 3LT has also redesigned the adjustment clamps on the leg segments. The O-Pad grip surfaces have become even more grippy and user-friendly. The overall construction, made from carbon and high-quality magnesium alloy, is designed for a comfortable feel whilst ensuring maximum stability: a 14-kilo load capacity speaks for itself.

Versatile: tripod, mini-tripod or monopod

A professional video tripod as a table tripod? Or perhaps a monopod with a spider base? It’s possible! To make this conversion possible, the 3LT design team has made not just one, but all three legs removable. Alternatively, the separately available Vanz tripod feet can be screwed into the upper section as mini-legs. This feature opens up a wide range of new applications in macro photography or tabletop photography. When the unscrewed legs are combined to form a monopod, the upper section takes on the function of the spider base. The working height in the monopod version is 1.55 m.

Interchangeable tripod feet for any surface

The 3LT Legends Mike is equipped with specially shaped rubber feet for a non-slip grip even on smooth surfaces. For maximum stability on any surface, the tripod feet can be unscrewed and replaced with 4 different tripod feet available as accessories. All tripod legs feature a 3/8-inch female thread with a 1/4-inch female thread adapter, allowing other accessories to be mounted.
