High image quality and fast autofocus

The FUJIFILM X-M5 features an X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with 26.1 megapixels and back-illuminated design, as well as the high-speed X-Processor 5 image processor. This combination ensures high image quality whilst minimising power consumption. In addition to the existing face and eye autofocus, the camera offers a subject recognition autofocus based on deep learning technology. Using artificial intelligence, the camera recognises a variety of subjects, such as animals, birds, cars, motorbikes, bicycles, aeroplanes, trains, insects and drones. The AF algorithm used also enables better prediction of object movements. As a result, the camera offers precise tracking of dynamic objects and accurate autofocus – even with low-contrast subjects.

High-resolution videos

The X-M5 can record high-resolution 6.2K videos at 30 frames per second with 4:2:2 10-bit colour quality directly to the inserted SD card . It supports many other video modes, such as 4K recording at 60 frames per second or Full HD slow-motion at 240 frames per second. The camera is equipped with powerful digital image stabilisation. This allows it to compensate not only for slight camera shake, but also for vigorous movements, such as those that occur when walking whilst filming. The FUJIFILM X-M5 also features three built-in microphones. Thanks to these, you can choose between four directional patterns: surround, front, rear and front & rear. Acoustic noise reduction filters out disturbing background noise during recording – such as the hum caused by an air-conditioning unit.

Vlog Mode

Vlog Mode allows you to intuitively adjust the recording settings via the LCD touchscreen. Improved icons and their optimised layout make video recording even easier. With the 9:16 short-form video mode, you can easily record high-quality vertical videos for social media platforms. In the media recording settings, bit rates of 8 Mbit/s and 25 Mbit/s can be selected to speed up the transfer of videos to mobile devices and their upload to social media platforms.

Compact and lightweight design

The FUJIFILM X-M5 weighs just around 355g and measures 111.9mm in width, 66.6mm in height and 38mm in depth. Thanks to this compact and lightweight design, it is the ideal companion for when you’re out and about. Symmetrically arranged control dials on the top panel enhance the camera’s aesthetic appeal and also make it easier to select different modes. The mode dial is positioned at the top right. The AUTO mode is ideal for those new to serious photography. When activated, the camera recognises the scene and automatically selects a suitable shooting mode. This ensures perfect photos and videos even without any technical knowledge. With the Film Simulation dial, located at the top left, you can switch between a total of 20 digital film simulations depending on the subject and scene. This makes it very easy to utilise a wide range of attractive analogue looks when taking photos and filming.
