Based on the legendary, award-winning design of the first generation, the enhanced X1D II 50C is a compact, high-performance mirrorless medium-format camera featuring an outstanding 50-megapixel CMOS sensor in a lightweight, portable body.

The X1D II 50C offers superb colour definition, a dynamic range of 14 stops and Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) technology integrated into the camera system. It delivers superb, true-to-life colour tones that correspond exactly to what the human eye sees. The upgraded electronic platform of the X1D II 50C includes a brilliant 3.6-inch touchscreen display with 2.36 million pixels and an improved electronic OLED viewfinder (EVF) with 3.69 million dots (0.87x magnification), both with higher resolution and a faster live view refresh rate, as well as even faster and more intuitive user interface control. Shutter lag and the blackout time between shots have been reduced, and start-up time has been almost halved compared to the first generation.
 
The built-in Wi-Fi and USB-C connectivity enables a portable medium-format workflow with Phocus Mobile 2, allowing the photographer to transfer full-quality TIFF and JPEG files directly from the X1D II 50C to their iPad Pro and edit them. Two SD card slots, which now support the faster UHS-II standard, provide ample storage space or the option to back up images to a second card whilst shooting. In addition to HC / HCD lenses, V-System lenses and XPan lenses, the X1D II 50C offers access to all XCD lenses via the XH adapter, the XV adapter and the XPan adapter. With the X1D II 50C, which is lightweight and portable, you can harness the power of medium format in a compact body smaller than most 35mm full-frame cameras.

The X1D II 50C combines form and function in its ergonomic design, inherited from the award-winning first generation. It continues to offer creatives incredible Hasselblad image quality with 16-bit RAW images and now full-resolution JPEGs in a compact, lightweight design.

 

INTUITIVE USER EXPERIENCE

The brilliant 3.6-inch touchscreen display with 2.36 million dots and the improved 3.69-million-dot OLED EVF on the X1D II 50C have been updated with higher resolution to allow for more accurate assessment of images after capture. With an improved magnification of 0.87x, the X1D II 50C’s EVF is now larger, allowing you to easily see the entire frame. Furthermore, the menu system is highly accessible when looking through the EVF and offers better usability in sunny conditions.

Building on the intuitive user interface of the previous generation, featuring zoom functionality and image browsing via swiping, the X1D II 50C has been refined to offer faster overall responsiveness when navigating the menu system. Further additions to the rear display include drag-and-drop autofocus points, as well as changes to autofocus point size via pinch-to-zoom gestures. With a shorter start-up time, a Live View with a faster refresh rate of 60 fps, and a shorter shutter and blackout time between shots, the X1D II 50C delivers an even smoother user experience.

 

UPDATED ELECTRONICS

The updated electronic platform of the X1D II 50C enables a more responsive camera feel, including faster image preview, and quicker post-capture processing. Furthermore, a higher frame rate of 60 fps ensures a smoother live view in both the EVF and the rear display. The significantly higher resolution of the rear screen (1024 x 768) delivers a more vivid and lifelike viewing experience.

Two SD card slots, which now support the faster UHS-II standard, provide ample storage space or the option to back up images to a second card whilst shooting.

 

FULL CONNECTIVITY

Thanks to built-in Wi-Fi and USB-C connectivity, a portable photography workflow is possible with wireless or wired image export and wired shooting via Phocus Mobile 2. Wired shooting is also possible with the desktop version of Phocus, which is available for Mac and PC.

An internal GPS module allows for optional automatic geotagging of images. The X1D II 50C allows the battery to be charged in the camera via USB, via a computer, a charger or a power bank.

 

PORTABLE WORKFLOW WITH PHOCUS MOBILE 2

Phocus Mobile 2 expands the capabilities of the Hasselblad workflow and takes the image editing process to a new, portable level. Phocus Mobile 2 is compatible with the X1D II 50C via USB-C or Wi-Fi and is supported on your iPad Pro and 2019 iPad Air models. This allows the travelling photographer to work faster and more seamlessly.

With Phocus Mobile 2, you can import, edit and rate RAW images, as well as import and rate full-quality JPEG images directly on your device. Furthermore, Phocus Mobile 2 supports full-quality image export, tethered shooting and direct camera control.

The X1D II 50C takes the award-winning design of the first generation and seamlessly continues Hasselblad’s tradition of blending form and function to ensure smooth handling. Machined from high-quality solid aluminium with a clean finish and featuring only the most essential buttons, all other controls can be easily accessed via the rear touch display. By incorporating the shutter into the Hasselblad lenses rather than the camera body, the weight and size of the X1D II 50C are minimised, resulting in a highly compact form factor.
