Capture the interplay of light and shadow
The wide-angle view, with a focal length equivalent to 20mm, captures a wealth of environmental and subject detail, offering ample scope for composition and creative expression. Thanks to the large f/2.5 aperture and Hasselblad’s consistently excellent optical performance, the lens captures rich details of light and shadow within its frame. This means that even at twilight or after dark, hidden wonders can be captured.
First-class optical design
The optical structure of the XCD 2.5/25V comprises thirteen elements in ten groups, including four aspherical elements and three ED glass elements, and meets the high resolution requirements of 100-megapixel sensors. This ensures that images are razor-sharp from the centre right out to the edges, whilst effectively suppressing chromatic aberration.
Thanks to its precise optical design, the XCD 2.5/25V features a compact body whilst delivering outstanding resolution, colour fidelity and a large aperture. Compared to the XCD 4/21, which has a maximum aperture of f/4, the smaller and lighter XCD 2.5/25V has a maximum aperture of f/2.5.
The XCD 2.5/25V’s robust performance in close-up photography is further testament to its excellent optical quality. The minimum focusing distance is 25 cm with a maximum magnification of 1:5.8. The wide-angle lens allows for flexible image composition, whilst the large aperture highlights the subject and enhances the expressiveness of close-ups, such as gourmet dishes and flowers.
Simple operation
The lens’s metal barrel features the V symbol at one end, whilst the H logo is engraved on the focus and control rings. This detail continues the classic design philosophy of the Hasselblad XCD V-series with refined elegance. Gently pushing and pulling the focus ring allows for effortless switching between AF and MF modes. In MF mode, intuitive scale markings on the lens barrel ensure that the focus distance and depth of field are visible at a glance, enabling precise
focus control.
The control ring can be customised for quick access to your favourite functions, allowing you to capture the perfect moment with ease.
Precise drive, fast focus
The linear stepper motor and the lighter, more compact lens group of the XCD 2.5/25V, when used in conjunction with medium-format digital cameras from the X or V systems that support PDAF, ensure fast and effective focusing.
The linear stepper motor can precisely control the movement of the lens group for focusing, thereby improving focusing accuracy.

Flexible light manipulation
The XCD 2.5/25V features a large-diameter central shutter module with a shutter speed of up to 1/4000 s. It allows the use of both the global shutter and flash synchronisation at any speed, which is particularly advantageous for flash photography. In bright daylight, for example, the flash can be used to darken the surroundings, emphasise the subject and freeze fast movements.
