Leofoto EF-285C Carbon Monopod
A working height of 1,540 mm (without the head attached) when the legs are fully extended is simply ideal. This means that for most photographers, the ball head (or pan head) with the camera attached is practically at eye level. And if a super-telephoto lens is mounted on the camera, the EF-285C is truly in its element. After all, it can carry an impressive 18 kg. An outstanding performance for a weight of just 450 g! As the packed length of 430 mm is also nice and short, this monopod is an ideal companion for sports and action photography in every respect. Speaking of all-round: the five round leg segments, with diameters of 28, 25, 22, 19 and 17 mm, are not only very light thanks to the carbon fibre. Due to the particularly precise machining of this excellent material, they move with a velvety smoothness and certainly do not twist. The rubberised twist locks can be loosened or tightened in literally no time at all. The tripod plate is topped by a combination screw with ¼” and 3/8” threads. Naturally, you could attach all sorts of heads to it. An ideal partner for this EF-285C monopod, however, would be the Leofoto VH-10 two-way pan-tilt head, for example.
Leofoto and Degreef & Partner
Degreef & Partner in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, has decades of experience in the distribution of photographic accessories, both across Europe and worldwide. They are proud to represent the Leofoto brand as an authorised distributor for the Benelux countries, Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland. This is because Leofoto products are of the highest quality. And at prices that are nowhere near those of camera tripods from well-known brands of comparable quality.
Leofoto carbon monopods
Monopods are the ideal camera supports for sports photography and indeed for all fast-moving subjects. These are, so to speak, Leofoto’s ‘flawless’ monopods for professional use. This tripod brand also offers tripods, where one of the legs can be used as a monopod. The use of eight layers of carbon fibre makes the monopods in question here pleasantly light whilst offering high stability. Yet these monopods still pack plenty of power: load capacities of 15, 18 or 20 kg are available across the three models on offer. It’s hardly rocket science that the model with the longest extension has a slightly lower load capacity (15 kg). But all three models are capable of safely supporting even heavy camera-lens combinations. The top section of every Leofoto monopod is softly padded with foam, a detail that’s kind to the hand and, on occasion, certainly to the shoulder too. What’s more, it offers some protection against the cold in winter. A wrist strap is a must for any monopod – not a minor detail, but an important safety feature. The strap should always be worn on the hand used to hold the monopod whilst taking photographs. The ¼-inch and 3/8-inch combination screw on the tripod plate makes these monopods highly versatile. Setting up or folding the Leofoto monopods is a breeze thanks to the quick-release fasteners on the extremely torsion-resistant leg segments. When a super-telephoto lens is mounted on the camera, the EF-285C is truly in its element. After all, it can carry an impressive 18 kg. An outstanding performance for a unit weight of just 450 g!
