Anyone who chooses this ball head gets double the value for money – in the best possible sense. For one thing, the LH-40 weighs just 540 g – a good pound. Its performance, however, is not merely good, but outstanding. Aircraft-grade aluminium, here black anodised, is known to be particularly tough. So it’s no wonder that the LH-40 ball head boasts a load capacity of a full 20 kg. And the computer-controlled manufacturing of all individual parts makes the LH-40 an incredibly precise tool that is both smooth-running and comfortable to use – whether for ambitious amateur or professional photographers.
It goes without saying that the friction is always smooth, precise and easily adjustable. The built-in spirit level and a fine scale around the base help with this, particularly during 360° horizontal pans. With the handy knobs, every adjustment is a breeze. The 40 mm thick ball can be tilted vertically by up to 90° at two different points. The height of 85 mm is nicely compact. This benefits from a low centre of gravity, which reduces vibrations. The base is fitted with a 3/8" tripod thread, supplemented by a ¼" adapter. As you would expect from such a high-quality ball head, mounting the camera is a breeze. This is because the ball head comes with a Leofoto QP-70 quick-release plate, which saves you from frequent and fiddly screwing.
