Leofoto Ranger LS-284C carbon fibre tripod with LH-30 ball head
This is essentially the LS-254C model, but in a more robust version. The leg sections are thicker, which naturally allows for a higher load capacity whilst maintaining the same maximum working height of 1,270 mm (excluding the ball head and centre column). The Ranger LS-284C can therefore handle up to 10 kg – and that with a weight of just 1,420 g, which is only 180 g more than the standard model. The packed size of just 530 mm is also a plus. Designed for strength whilst remaining lightweight, the Leofoto Ranger LS-284C carbon tripod is a reliable companion, particularly on photography walks with a longer lens. The package includes a Leofoto LH-30 ball head (308 g), a screw-on centre column, a multi-tool and a set of stainless steel spikes. Everything is neatly stored together in a practical carry bag.

Leofoto Ranger series – the ultra-light yet extremely sturdy carbon tripods
The very essence of the compact and lightweight Leofoto Ranger tripods is nature itself. On days-long photography expeditions, every gram and every millimetre counts to minimise the volume and weight of your kit. Yet all equipment must not only be space- and weight-saving, but also meet very high standards. Stability under all circumstances – that is the requirement. The material, carbon, ensures the required lightness. Its stability and resistance to vibration ‘grow’ with the number of layers. Apart from the Traveler tripod series and the monopods, Leofoto tripods are made from ten-layer carbon. The deliberately modular design of all tripods in the Leofoto Ranger series – with the centre column not built-in but attached only when needed – makes it possible to limit luggage to the bare essentials.
With their small diameters, the head plates of the Ranger series also fit into the space-saving concept. And because they are CNC-machined from strong aircraft-grade aluminium, they fit perfectly. The head plate screw has a 3/8” thread. The tripod legs – consisting of three to five leg sections depending on the model – slide smoothly and without twisting. They are secured by rubberised twist locks that are easy to grip. The rubber feet absorb unwanted vibrations. If necessary, they can be replaced with the supplied stainless steel spikes or optional snow and sand feet.
Leofoto Ranger LS-284C carbon tripod – exceptionally strong yet lightweight
All carbon tripods in the Ranger series are designed for lightness. For this reason, they do not feature a built-in centre column. However, you don’t have to do without one. This is because it is included in the set – even with the Ranger LS-284C – and can be screwed on. Every photographer decides for themselves whether they prefer to pack with or without a centre column. It increases the working height to up to 1,585 mm. However, the Ranger LS-284C can also be laid completely flat. The minimum working height of just 145 mm may require a bit of floor acrobatics from photographers, but it is extremely useful for macro shots of small objects and ground-dwelling creatures, or even images from a worm’s-eye view. The sturdy tripod legs, each comprising four smoothly sliding sections, have diameters of 28, 25, 22 and 19 mm. This alone suggests that this tripod is significantly sturdier (more stable) than the Ranger LS-254C, which is of identical height.
Leofoto LH-30 ball head – small yet powerful
Precisely CNC-machined from black anodised aircraft-grade aluminium, with a built-in spirit level. Horizontal rotation of 360° and vertical tilt of up to 90° of the ball (30 mm diameter) are controlled and held in place by the sturdy wing nut. Weighing just 308 g, the Leofoto LH-30 ball head can still support a load of 15 kg. A height of 80 mm means the centre of gravity is low, which also reduces unwanted vibrations. Features a 3/8” tripod thread and a scale on the tripod plate, making precise adjustment easier. The built-in quick-release coupling also makes work easier; it comes with a BPL-50 QR camera plate of the Arca-Swiss type.
