Gone are the days when you’d miss having a tripod for certain shots! This cute little powerhouse pairs perfectly with the equally ultra-compact Leofoto LH-25 ball head. The load capacity of this brilliant duo is no less than 6 kg! Yet the combined weight of both parts is just 720 grams. And the complete set – comprising the carbon fibre tripod, ball head, stainless steel spikes and multi-tool – weighs only slightly more. Everything comes together in a handy carry bag.

Leofoto Ranger series – the ultra-light yet extremely sturdy carbon tripods

The very essence of the compact and lightweight Leofoto Ranger tripods is nature itself. On days-long photography expeditions, every gram and every millimetre counts to minimise the volume and weight of your kit. Yet all equipment must not only be space- and weight-saving, but also meet very high standards. Stability under all circumstances – that is the requirement. The material, carbon, ensures the required lightness. Its stability and resistance to vibration ‘grow’ with the number of layers. With the exception of the Traveler tripod series and the monopods, Leofoto tripods are made from ten-layer carbon.The deliberately modular design of all tripods in the Leofoto Ranger series – with the centre column not built-in but attached only when needed – makes it possible to limit your luggage to the bare essentials.
With their small diameters, the head plates of the Ranger series also fit into the space-saving concept. And because they are CNC-machined from strong aircraft-grade aluminium, they fit perfectly. The head plate screw has a 3/8” thread. The tripod legs – consisting of three to five leg sections depending on the model – slide smoothly and without twisting. They are secured by easy-to-grip, rubberised twist locks. The rubber feet absorb unwanted vibrations. If necessary, they can be replaced with the supplied stainless steel spikes or optional snow and sand feet.

Leofoto Ranger LS-223C Carbon Tripod – short and sweet

Despite its lightness and stability (as described above), the tripod also impresses with its compact dimensions: a packed height of 270 mm and a maximum working height of 380 mm (both with ball head). With the centre column screwed on, these figures increase accordingly. It is hardly surprising that the Ranger LS-223C can also perform an almost perfect ‘split’. The impressively low working height of 105 mm (without ball head and centre column) offers ideal conditions for macro shots of the life on the ground below. The legs consist of three sections with diameters of 22, 19 and 16 mm.

Leofoto LH-25 Ball Head – very small, yet strong and precise

Precisely machined from CNC-milled, black anodised aircraft-grade aluminium and featuring a built-in spirit level, this small ball head is included in the set. At first glance, you wouldn’t guess the strength of this ‘featherweight’ (weighing just 178 grams). Yet the Leofoto LH-25 ball head can handle a very respectable 6 kg load! The low profile of just 69 mm keeps the centre of gravity low. This also reduces unwanted vibrations. It features a 3/8" tripod thread and a large wing nut, the latter for locking the ball (diameter 25 mm) in the desired position. Adjustment is smooth as silk and the 360° panorama function operates effortlessly. Precise adjustment is made easier by the scale on the tripod plate. Vertical tilt of the ball is possible up to 90°. Attaching and removing cameras is a breeze thanks to the built-in quick-release coupling, including the PU-25 QR camera plate of the Arca-Swiss type.
