Leofoto Summit LM-365C

Leofoto Summit LM-365C Carbon Fibre Tripod

Within the Summit series, this is the tripod with the greatest working height: 1,540 mm is quite a ‘lofty height’, measured without the tripod head and camera. However, because the LM-365C has five leg sections, its packed length of just 490 mm is actually shorter than that of three of the four other Summit tripods. And the 80 mm of the lowest working height is nice and low – ideal for both macro and environmental shots from a very low, ‘frog’s-eye’ perspective. The LM-365C has a load capacity of 25 kg. That’s enough strength to keep even some heavier equipment – whether a DSLR or a video camera – in a stable position.

Although the Summit LM-365C is made of a lot of material (legs each consisting of five sections), it weighs just 1,970 g, thanks to carbon fibre. When the tripod is packed into its supplied bag, it makes for a very compact, thoroughly easy-to-handle transport unit. With the Summit series, Leofoto aims to ensure that users who switch between two different types of photography do not have to work with different tripods. That is why the Summit LM-365C (like the entire series) features not only a removable tripod plate (Ø 75 mm) but also a 75 mm half-shell. Rubber feet, stainless steel spikes and a multi-tool round off the included accessories. Professional users in particular, but also many ambitious amateur photographers, will be delighted to have the Summit LM-365C: a very sturdy all-round tripod for high-quality, heavy camera systems ranging from DSLRs and medium format to dedicated video cameras.

Leofoto Summit Series – super-strong yet lightweight carbon fibre tripods

Although just as sturdy as the robust tripods in the Leofoto Mountain series, the carbon fibre tripods in the Summit series are considerably lighter. This makes them particularly appealing wherever bulky camera equipment is used for landscape, nature and sports photography. It goes without saying for Leofoto that the tripod legs of the Summit series, made from high-density, ten-layer carbon fibre, all achieve top marks in terms of bending stiffness, strength and vibration damping. All metal parts also meet the highest standards of durability and longevity. Manufactured from high-strength aircraft-grade aluminium, they achieve their absolute precision and smooth operation through an exclusively CNC-controlled manufacturing process – it could hardly be more precise. Taken as a whole, the carbon tripods in the Summit series are designed above all to provide a secure base for heavy photographic or video equipment. To ensure that vibrations and oscillations are dampened as much as possible, an extendable centre column has been deliberately omitted.

For those who still require one, it is available as an optional accessory. But that’s not all in terms of versatility: the tripod plate, fitted with a spirit level, is removable and can be swapped for a half-shell for video cameras, which is included in the scope of delivery. Optional accessories (e.g. a smartphone holder, a magic arm, etc.) can be attached to the 3/8” threads on the tripod plate. Depending on the model, the tripod legs consist of two, three, four or even five sections. Naturally, they always glide smoothly and are twist-proof. And thanks to the practical, non-slip rubberised twist locks, they can be quickly loosened or secured with ease. Non-slip rubber feet are also included as standard, as is a set of stainless steel spikes. Snow and sand feet can be purchased as optional extras. Conclusion: Extremely strong and durable, the tripods in the Summit series are excellent tools for demanding photographers who want – or indeed need – to be able to rely on the high quality of their entire kit at all times.

Summit LM-365C Carbon Tripod – professional strength combined with high versatility

Carbon is not only a lightweight but also a stable material capable of safely supporting even heavy loads. That is why the Summit LM-365C can ‘support’ a load of 25 kg on its slender legs, each consisting of five sections with diameters of 36, 32, 28, 25 and 22 mm. Adjusting the tripod to the desired length is extremely quick and easy thanks to the twist-lock system. These are non-slip rubberised twist locks that are incredibly easy to loosen and secure.

The versatility of the tripod plate is also well thought out. It features not only a standard 3/8” screw (for most heavy-duty tripod heads) but also a ¼” screw. This significantly broadens the range of compatible tripod heads, although when it comes to choosing the optimal tripod head, you’re in good hands with Leofoto. Anyone who shoots with a DSLR today and a professional video camera tomorrow will find it wonderfully simple with any Summit tripod. You don’t need two different tripods; you simply swap the tripod plate for the included 75 mm half-shell – it’s quick and easy. And just like that, the Summit LM-365C transforms from a sturdy photo tripod into an equally robust professional video tripod, suitable for all video heads with a 75 mm half-ball! It couldn’t be more convenient.
