Every camera needs the right film. Type I Polaroid cameras use their own Type I film, which, unlike the classic cameras, does not require a battery.
Store cool, shoot
warm Temperature affects how the film works. Keep it cool in the fridge, but never freeze it. Ideally, let it come to room temperature before use. That’s around 13–28°C (55–82°F). If it’s cold outside, keep your photos warm in a pocket close to your body whilst they develop. Or if it’s a hot day, make sure they stay cool.
Shoot with the light
The more light in your shot, the better your photo will turn out. Instant film loves light, especially natural light. Use the flash for all your indoor shots. For best results, we also recommend using the flash for outdoor shots, unless it’s a bright, sunny day.
Develop in the dark
All photos will appear blank at first. They are at their most sensitive during this time, so do not bend or shake them. Protect them from light and lay them face down whilst they are developing. Keep black-and-white photos shielded from light for about 1 minute and colour films for about 6 minutes.
Caring for your camera
Your camera has a set of rollers in the film door. Each photo passes through these rollers as it is taken, so it is important that they remain clean. If the rollers are visibly dirty, wipe them gently with a soft, damp cloth.
